On November 25th, Milano-Bicocca University will host a seminar regarding the significance of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in combating crimes against cultural heritage, titled “European Public Prosecutor’s office (EPPO) and the fight against corruption”.

The event is scheduled to take place in person atU6 building, in the “sala lauree”, from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. It will be also possible to participate remotely using the link provided in the leaflet.

 

The seminar will focus on the importance of digitalization in EPPO’s investigative activities and fight against crimes targeting cultural heritage.

Specifically, it will highlight the crucial value of technology in protecting, preserving and promoting the European cultural heritage through enhanced monitoring and secure accessibility, along with preventing damages to cultural goods caused by illicit activities of organized crime and armed conflicts.

 

In the initial part of the seminar, dedicated to three 15-minute interventions, Art and cultural heritage crimes committee will be represented by Sherine Al Shallah, who will discuss about “Technology, Cultural Heritage and Cultural Rights”, alongside

Professor Andrzej Jakubowski, who will address “Criminal Justice and the Evidentiary value of digital inventories of cultural heritage in EPPO investigations”.

The event will also feature Adina Hulubas, a UNESCO facilitator and senior researcher at the Romanian Academy’s Iasi Branch, who will discuss “The role of EPPO: digitizing folklore archives, one way to fight cultural heritage crimes”.

Andrzej Jakubowski

Adina Hulubaș 
UNESCO facilitator and senior researcher working with Romanian Academy, Iași Branch. She was a trainer for several workshops on the implementation of 2003 Convention in Romania and Bulgaria and is manager of the Fostering access to intangible cultural heritage from Romania and the Republic of Moldova.The second part of the event will include a round table and an open discussion, allowing attendees to pose questions and delve deeper into the topics covered.  The event will be moderated by Professor Benedetta Ubertazzi.
