Art & Cultural Heritage Crimes Committee
Il comitato si propone di affrontare e contrastare, attraverso l’istituzione dell’EPPO, il traffico illecito di beni culturali con dimensioni transfrontaliere, e più in generale il crimine contro il patrimonio culturale (c.d. crimine d’arte), in particolari tra i Paesi dell’Europa e dell’Asia-Pacifico.
Il comitato si occupa di indagare il ruolo crescente delle transazioni di beni artistici e culturali dell’UE.
L’obiettivo è quello di esaminare come l’EPPO possa contribuire a rintracciare le attività di riciclaggio di denaro legate a crimini artistici che colpiscono gli interessi finanziari dell’UE oltre ai diritti umani fondamentali, compresi i diritti culturali e soprattutto rafforzare la consapevolezza all’interno dell’UE che ogni Stato ha l’obbligo morale e legale di rispettare il proprio patrimonio culturale e quello di tutti gli altri Stati.
